What is TruePaper?

TruePaper is an environmentally friendly, ultrasonic and heat-sealable paper band. TruePaper consists of optionally virgin or more than 50% recycled fibers. It can be recycled in the normal paper cycle and is suitable for direct food contact.

Basically, any paper coated with the new water-based bonding agent can become TruePaper, which means high flexibility and security in the supply chain.

The main drivers behind the development of TruePaper are the sustainability strategies and goals of our customers, the legal bans on (single-use) plastic in a growing number of countries, the increasingly important implementation of the circular economy - and last but not least, our own motivation and promise to always offer our customers the best packaging solution.

Minimize packaging

Banding with ATS means only as much packaging as necessary. It is often the better alternative to conventional packaging.​

100% recyclable

TruePaper consists of optionally virgin or more than 50% recycled fibers and can be recycled in the normal paper cycle.

Unique

The sustainable paper band is suitable for all product types and sizes. TruePaper can be sealed with ultrasonic and heatseal technology.​

Branding with Banding

Banded products stand out visually and haptically at the point of sale. Easy opening and returning to the recycling stream increase customer satisfaction.​

Food safe

Printed ATS bands are grade AA certified to BRCGS Packaging Materials Global Standard. The raw materials comply, among others, with the restrictions of the FDA. ​

FSC certified

TruePaper is also available with FSC certification.​

Recycling code 22 (PAP)

The recycling code is used to identify various materials for return to the recycling stream. TruePaper can be marked with recycling code 22 (PAP).​

Water-based bonding agent

TruePaper contains a water-based bonding agent that can be sealed with ultrasonic and heatseal technology. Basically, any paper with the new bonding agent can become TruePaper. ​

High tensile shear​ strength

The tensile shear strength (sealed joint) of TruePaper is comparable to conventional banding paper coated with PP.​

Compliant with Directive 2019/904/EU

TruePaper is compliant with Directive 2019/904/EU on reducing the impact of certain plastic products on the environment.

Compliant with the Circular Economy Act in France

TruePaper is compliant with the Loi AGEC (Loi anti-gaspillage pour une économie circulaire) circular economy law that came into force in France in 2022.​

Compliant with the Circular Economy Act in Spain

TruePaper is compliant with the Circular Economy Law 7/2022 (Ley de Residuos y Suelos Contaminados para una Economía Circular), which came into force in Spain in 2022.

Suitable for ultrasonic sealing

TruePaper is suitable for ultrasonic sealing, which is significantly more energy efficient than conventional heatseal technology. ​

Suitable for heatseal technology

TruePaper is also suitable for heatseal machines.

Frequently asked questions about TruePaper

Yes. TruePaper, like all ATS paper bands, is Class AA certified to BRCGS Packaging Materials Global Standard. The raw materials comply with FDA regulations, among others. 

Yes, both TruePaper and ATS partially coated paper contain less than 5% foreign material. This complies with the 95/5 rule. 

TruePaper and partially coated paper always contain less than 5% foreign material. 

Yes. TruePaper is compliant with the Loi AGEC (Loi anti-gaspillage pour une économie circulaire) circular economy law that came into force in France in 2022. 

Yes. TruePaper is compliant with the Circular Economy Law 7/2022 (Ley de Residuos y Suelos Contaminados para una Economía Circular) in force in Spain.

Yes. TruePaper can be printed like all other bands using the flexographic printing process. Variable information such as LOT numbers, best-before dates or barcodes are printed by a thermal transfer printer in placeholders provided for this purpose during banding. 

The tensile shear strength (welded joint) of TruePaper is comparable to conventional banding paper coated with PP. It depends on various factors (humidity, type of paper, etc.). Please contact us for exact details.
